Opinion: Why Some Christians Don't Benefit From The Rewards Of Giving

Giving is a very essential practise in Christianity. Christians generally believe that giving to God and others can attract awesome blessings into our lives.

However, it has been observed that after Christians give these offerings, tithes and vows, they don't usually get the promised outpourings. Some of them then start doubting God's ability to supply their needs.

Now what we should know is that God is more than able to supply all our needs and certainly no act of kindness will be unrewarded; except of course when it's not done right.

In Luke 6:38, the Bible says " Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom." God assured us of receiving from him if we give and he will never go back on his word. Why are we not seeing these blessings then?

Giving to God and others without abiding by the principles of giving is like not giving at all, as God doesn't reward such. You must meet up with God's standards before your giving can be recognized and rewarded by him.

Below are some of the reasons why Christians aren't benefitting from giving.

1. Secret sins; one thing that separates us from God is SIN. There is no way God will reward a sinner's giving except such a person repents genuinely from his or her sins. The Bible says in Proverbs 15:8 "The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight"

Well if the sacrifice of a sinner is an abomination to God, how then can he recognize his or her gifts?.

2. Unforgiveness and malice; this is another reason why our offerings to God might not be rewarding to us. In Matthew 5:23-24 which says "Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first, be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift."

Jesus admonished us to remove unforgiveness from our hearts, settle any form of disputes we have with others, eradicate malice before we offer our offerings to him.

Any offerings, gifts, tithes etc we give to God out of an unforgiving and malicious heart is a total waste as it will not be rewarded

3. Unbelief; How much do you trust God? After giving your offerings or paying your vows do you still doubt of God will bless you in return?

Unbelief makes us lose access to lots of our blessings. When we don't have confidence in God, the devil robs us of our rewards and blessings. In Hebrew 11:1, the Bible says " Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 is the evidence."

Sharpen and build your faith today, hold unto God's promises and flee from every sin or unforgiveness. That's how to receive from God.

Stay blessed
