The Meaning of the Last Trumpet According to 1 Corinthians 15:52

When Paul the apostle was addressing the church of the Corinthians about the resurrection of the dead, describing the reality of how those who died or will die in Christ are going to be raised into their new bodies, he explained further that there is going to be a last trumpet, which will be sounded by the archangel, in a twinkling of an eye.

But what does the last trumpet mean, seeing that this is not the only place where it is mention in the Bible. Firstly, to understand what the Holy Spirit was saying through Paul, one must understand that he was speaking by revelation. That is, he was speaking in figures and representations, so that messages of his revelation could be understood by the knowledge of the church in those days.

Paul had been once taken into the third heaven, yet he experienced this while he was in his human body.(2 Corinthians 12)

So, the last trumpet is a the divine call from heaven through his angel(the Messenger) that will be audible enough for each person to hear. Although this audible call, which is portrayed as a "trumpet call" will come for each person at the end of their times. Thus, they will put on the new spiritual body which was sown in corruption but now raised in incorruption(verse 42–44). The person now has a spiritual body.

Thus, the last trumpet is a reality that will happen to each person at their time, when the Lord calls them home to be with Him as he also explained in 2 Corinthians 5:1–10).
