To commemorate this year's Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration in honor of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, the Federal Government has proclaimed Tuesday, October 19th, 2021 as a public holiday (Peace be upon him).

Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of Interior, who announced on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulates all Muslim faithful at home and abroad for witnessing this year's event.

He urges all Nigerians to absorb the Holy Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) values of love, patience, and perseverance, saying that doing so will ensure peace and security in the country.

Ogbeni Aregbesola urged Nigerians, especially Muslims, to avoid violence, lawlessness, and other illegal activities.

"We must show responsible leadership in Africa as the undeniable leader of our race," he remarked.

While calling for an end to all divisive tendencies across the country, the Minister urged all Nigerians, particularly the youth, to embrace the virtues of hard work and a peaceful disposition toward fellow humans, regardless of faith, ideology, social class, or ethnicity, and to work with President Muhammadu Buhari's administration to build a progressive and enviable nation that all citizens can be proud of.
