There is a spiritual angle to the issue of making wrong decisions and mistakes, that leads to sorrows and misfortunes.

Looking at the Bible book of Deuteronomy 11:16, which says,

"Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them."

The Bible passage quoted contains the statement of Moses to the children of Israel. Moses advised them not to allow their hearts to be deceived, why? According to Moses, it will lead to the children of Israel turning aside (away) from God to serve other gods.

When the heart of a person is deceived, he or she will often make decisions and take actions that will result in sorrows or misfortunes. This is so because such a person is under the influence of satanic manipulation.

A person that is under satanic manipulation will often make decisions that if executed, will result in an unfavourable outcome. Most often than not, the outcome brings sorrow or misfortune to such a person.

1 Samuel 16:1, 13-14

V 1 And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.

V 13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

V 14 But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.

This Bible passage tells us that after God rejected Saul from continuing as king of Israel, He sent Prophet Samuel to anoint David as king over Israel. As soon as David was anointed, the Spirit of the LORD departed from king Saul and an evil spirit entered into him that started troubling him.

Reading through the Bible, from 1 Samuel chapter 16 to chapter 31 where king Saul died, it will be discovered that this evil spirit troubled king Saul into making some wrong decisions and mistakes that led to sorrows and misfortunes for him, his family and the nation of Israel.

In fact, king Saul's wrong decisions and mistakes led to himself and his son, Jonathan, his heir, being killed by the Philistines on the same day.
