One of the things I love is studying my Bible. I have been blessed by the word of God from my Bible.
Reading the Bible without understanding is like eating food without salt. It is not enough to read the Bible but understanding what you reading is what brings result.
Please can someone explain this Bible verse for me
1Corinthians 14: 2 and 4
King James version: For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
Amplified Bible : For one who speaks in an [unknown] tongue speaks not to men but to God, for no one understands or catches his meaning, because in the [Holy] Spirit he utters secret truths and hidden things [not obvious to the understanding].
English Standard Version: For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit.
New Living Translation: For if you have the ability to speak in tongues, you will be talking only to God, since people won’t be able to understand you. You will be speaking by the power of the Spirit, but it will all be mysterious.
New American Standard Bible: For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries.
King James Version: He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.
Amplified Bible: He who speaks in a [strange] tongue edifies and improves himself, but he who prophesies [interpreting the divine will and purpose and teaching with inspiration] edifies and improves the church and promotes growth [in Christian wisdom, piety, holiness, and happiness].
English Standard Version: The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church.
New Living Translation: A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally, but one who speaks a word of prophecy strengthens the entire church.
New American Standard Bible: One who speaks in a tongue edifies himself; but one who prophesies edifies the church.
