In the Roman Catholic Church, September 20th is a day which is set aside by the Catholic Church to honour the faithful Martyrs who died during during the time of the Joseon dynasty. This one hundred and three martyrs who have already been canonized by the Catholic Church were all led by the first Catholic priest in Korea whose name is St Andrew Kim Tae-gon. They were also led by Saint Paul Chong Ha-sang who was a Korea seminarian.

The martyrs who died during those years of prosecution consisted of 92 Korean lay persons, ten French missionaries, seven priests and 3 other bishops. The faithful Christians were imprisoned and tortured at that period. All these martyrs were killed during the period of Anti Christian prosecution in Joseon dynasty. They will forever be remembered because of their faith in Christ Jesus.
