Dr. DK Olukoya: Righteousness Exalts A Nation.

There was a town which lost its king because he was always thinking and talking about himself as if no one else existed. He always told his subjects, “You must always serve me! You must always obey whatever I tell you. You must always give me whatever I want from you. You must do this, you must do that…”

The people got fed up with the constant demands of the king, saying “this king only wants us to serve him without him serving us in anyway. When we tell him we have problems, he would not show concern let alone helping us but he always wants us to do things for him.”

“I think we have to find a way to get rid of him before he wears us out with his demands.”

And so the first king who always put his interests ahead of every other thing was eliminated by his own people.

Another person was made the king. He was told how his predecessor was murdered in cold blood. So he decided to place the interests of his people ahead of his own. He and the people enjoyed mutual understanding, peace and joy for a while because of his method of leadership. When the enemies of the people invaded the town, however, they could not protect the king. In fact, everybody fled the town for safety. Eventually, the king was killed by the enemies of the town.

Another person was made the king. He was duly informed of the causes of the deaths of the other two kings. He knew he was in great danger unless he could get someone who was stronger than the enemies even if his people gave him their full co-operation during his reign.

After many days of deep thoughts and meditation, he decided to introduce his own leadership style. He first gave himself over to the King of kings and the Lord of Lords called Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ is the beginning and the end, the Alpha and the Omega (Revelation 1:8), the King of Glory Who crown His people with glory and honour (Hebrew 2:7), the Mighty God, Wonderful, Counselor, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6) and the Mighty Word Of God Who created the world and rebuked the wind and the sea that threatened His people in Mark 4:35-39, saying, “Peace, be still!” and they obeyed Him because He created them.

After the king has given himself over to the King of kings who directed his activities through the Holy Spirit, he began to please Jesus and the people. As he did that, Jesus used the people to take care of his interest.

There came one day, however, large numbers of enemies gathered round the town with the determination to crush the king and his people just because they hated them.

The king reported the matter to the King of kings who told him in Psalms 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

The King of kings further told the king in Isaiah 54:17, “No weapon forms against you shall prosper…!”

The king of kings faced the enemies of the king, saying in Psalm 105:15, ‘Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.’

But according to Psalm 2:1-3, the nations continued to rage and the people plot… The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers (of darkness) take counsel together, against the LORD, and against His anointed, saying, ‘Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.’

Because the King of kings will not strike without a warning, He gives the enemies warnings, which they refused to heed. Then the King of kings sent His host of Angels to strike them dead. When the enemies started dying one after the other, they realized that they were fighting the people who were more than conquerors through Jesus Christ who loved them, according to Romans 8:37.

The reign of the third king was long, peaceful and prosperous because he gave himself to Jesus Christ. The Bible says in Proverb 14:34, “Righteousness exalts a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”

I pray that as many as have read this message would be under the protection of the King of kings in Jesus name. Our leaders shall rule with righteousness and our nations shall be exalted in Jesus name.
