The Anambra South Senator and National Leader of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, on Friday, reassured the Roman Catholic community that efforts are in top gear to complete the ongoing Cathedral project in Nnewi by September this year.
The Senator reiterated this while inspecting the project along with the Diocesan Bishop, Most Reverend Hilliary Odili Okeke and other clergymen from the Diocese. In Senator Ubah's words: "God has been good to me and I will never relent in fulfilling my pledge to build a befitting edifice, a Cathedral, for Him"
The Anambra South Senator also appreciated God for His merciful grace and expressed the opinion that when completed, the project which is being funded from his personal purse, would not only serve as an outstanding place of worship but also play a vital role in motivating other well meaning people to support various services in the Lord's vineyard, using their individual wealth.
Thanking the church for their prayers, Senator Ubah further said that he would always put in his best to ensure timely completion of the project and subsequent presentation of the edifice which is scheduled to be commissioned during his Golden Jubilee Celebration in September.
Responding on behalf of the clergymen present, the Diocesan Bishop, Most Reverend Hilliary Odili Okeke thanked God for His grace upon Senator Ubah. He further thanked the Senator for believing in the church and for utilizing his wealth in such a manner to support services in the Lord's vineyard.
The Bishop also assured the Senator that the body of Christ will continue to pray for more grace upon his life. He prayed God to nourish him with divine protection and bless all his efforts towards the betterment of humanity.
When completed, the project will make history as one of the Cathedrals, if not the first, that was constructed within a period of ten years. It will also be the first Cathedral in the Country that was single handedly built by an individual.
