Daddy Freeze and Bishop David Oyedepo
Jesus Christ, the owner of the Church never threatened nor force anyone on tithing sake. .."he who comes to me shall by no means be cast away". How will he now curse those who believe in him because of 10% of their salaries. God is a merciful and loving God. God is love.!
Well you may agree or disagree on my submission in the above statement. I am of the opinion that tithe payment shouldn't be a compulsion in the churches. I am a bit sceptical when a man of God attaches financial curse to the tithe payment in the churches!
In the meantime, Nigerians have continued to react to the Bishop David Oyedepo's tithe preaching. He said Tithing is a compulsory obligation and for those who are not paying tithe are under a financial curse!
Bishop David Oyedepo said: "Tithing is an inescapable covenant obligation. Prosperity not just wealth is impossible without tithing, because when you're not paying your tithe, you're under a financial curse"
However, Daddy Freeze has kicked against Pastor Oyedepo in what he described 'unscriptural statement manipulative and cruel'. He hinted that neither disciples nor no one was cursed!
He said: "Utter nonsense! Are you one percent as prosperous or as wealthy as Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet who dont tithe? I personally find this unscriptural statement manipulative and cruel. Christ didnt collect tithe neither did the disciples, yet no one was cursed!~FRZ"
This is a textbook example of the day to day manipulation that goes on in churches. Nigerians are going through very tough times to begin with. Then somebody will employ a fear tactic to only make life tougher for them. That is outright wickedness.!
Does it necessarily need to give our tithes to church? Our God is merciful. We can give the tithe to the street, to the food sellers, to the gate men, to the hawkers, to random people you don't know, to your poor neighbors.
Below are the reactions that trail Dad Freeze's tweet on the tithing preaching by Bishop David Oyedepo:
