Kano charges preacher to court for blaspheming Prophet Muhammad

A Kano Islamic Preacher, called Abduljabber Kabara has been sentenced Sued by the Kano State Government for blasphemy against the Islamic Prophet Muhammad, and what was tagged incitement of the people.


According to the Commissioner for Information in Kano, Muhammad Garba, the charges brought against the preacher was that of blasphemy. Garba revealed this in a state me T which he released on Friday evening.


The Kano State Government mentioned through its Commissioner for information that that Islamic cleric who us also a Kano based preacher had been quite famous for his controversial statements and assessments of the Religion and its patriarch, Prophet Muhammad. It was stated that these constant criticism from the cleric was considered mortifying to the companions and the Holy Prophet Muhammad.


The charges brought against Mr. Kabara had been first brought to light by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the state, who had been credited for filing the first report against the preacher to the police.


The statement also went further to reveal that the accused had been arraigned on Friday, July 16th before an upper sharia court at Kofar kudu.

Mr Kabara was charged before Qadi Ibrahim Sarki-Yola, for blasphemy, incitement, and sundry offences.


According to the content of the statement, the court had adjourned till July 28. However, the preacher would be kept at the custody of the police until Monday July 19 2021, when he would be taken to prison until the necmxt court proceeding.
