Prayer is a key instrument that can be used to conquer most battles that seems to be overwhelming to man or defy all solutions. It is important for humans to turn to God when they don't know what to do at a challenging and demanding period.
Nigeria is faced with many challenges in recent times and it seems that the solutions to most of the problems are beyond the reach of any individual or even the government's hence, the need to call on the Almighty God.
The major issue that is battling with the country is insecurity. Bandits, killer herdsmen, kidnappers, marauders, Boko Haram among other group of people are troubling the peaceful waters of the land and all efforts at curbing their activities seems to be abortive. The governments at all levels seems to be helpless after doing the needful at most times of the attacks.
June 12 is now been recognised as the democracy day after the former official date May 29th has been abolished in honour of the late business mogul and winner of the annulled June 12th, 1993 election, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola popularly known as MKO Abiola.
Though, MKO Abiola has gone into eternity but what he died for is still a record that has never been broken in the history of the country. Many elections have been conducted after June 12th, 1993, but none has been able to measure up to the standard that will make it to be declared the freest and fairest in the history of the nation.
With the incoming of a new democratic dispensation in 1999 till date, Nigeria is yet to arrive at a point where the government in power will be appreciated by most citizens. It has been a blaming game from one government to another. None of the political parties that has tasted power has been able to satisfy the yarnings of the majority of the citizens. It has always been that the previous government has been preferred to the present ones as people are always complaining that the past is better than the present.
Fast forward, June 12th, 2021 has been scheduled by some set of people who can be termed as agitators for a New Nation as a day to protest for a change in the people in position of authority.
Come to think of it, do we really need a protest in a period such as this? What has been the result of such protest in the past? Does it mean that we have quickly forgotten about what happened at Lekki Tollgate on 20th October, 2020?
Why don't we give peace a chance and put a call to the Almighty God to intervene in the affairs of our dear nation Nigeria.
Rather than protesting and causing more problems on Saturday June 12th, 2021, why don't we join forces as a nation and do the following prayers:
1.) Dear Lord, we thank you that Nigeria is still existing as a nation because it is your will and we appreciate you for this.
2.) God Almighty, please forgive every sin that we might have committed either as individuals or as a country. Father Lord, please have mercy on us oh Lord.
3.) Almighty God, we are aware that we have shed more bloods than any other nations of the world through killings by bandits, killer herdsmen, marauders, Boko Haram, ritualists among others. These people are mostly innocent souls that seems to be requesting for vengeance, so dear Lord, kindly forgive us and have mercy on us all.
4.) Heaven Father, we have discovered that Nigeria is a nation that is blessed by God with both natural and human resources but we have not been able to manage all these benefits well. God please forgive our misdeeds and grant us the wisdom and understanding to make good use of all these resources to the growth and development of our country.
5.) Dear Father Lord, we have been making the mistake of putting our trust in man especially in our leaders believing that they will profer solutions to our problems forgetting that what God has not built cannot be build by any man. Lord God, we are now trusting in you to help us and not any human again.
6.) Dear Father Lord, we have not been speaking well of our country as citizens. When Americans wake up every day, they say "God bless America " but we have always been cursing our nation and expecting things to change for the better, God please forgive our sins and help us to begin speaking well of our country.
7.) Dear God Almighty, most of us in the land are corrupt especially in our thoughts and deeds yet, we are quick to accuse our leaders of corruption and embezzlement. Lord, please renew our hearts and give us clean and pure hearts that put God first, others next and self last.
8.) Heaven Father, one of our major problem is selfishness. We are so much self centered and care less about others. Each of us want to have everything that should be share by many and not bothered wether others are good or not. God please forgive us and give us a heart of love and selflessness that cares for the good of others.
9.) God Almighty, we are people who doesn't see the good in ourselves but always looking for the short coming in one another. We don't appreciate ourselves but rather give kudos to people from other countries in Europe and America. We don't buy home made products but preferred imported products yet we are complaining of bad economy, Lord, please forgive us and heal our land of all curses that may be troubling us.
10.) Oh God of creation, direct our noble cause. Guide our leaders right, help our youths the truth to know. In love and honesty to grow and live in just and truth. Great lofty heights attain. To build a nation where peace, and justice shall reign.
Kindly share, comment and let's keep praying for our dear nation, Nigeria.
