Who is your Favorite Person from the Bible Other than Jesus?

The holy Bible book is the oldest book with the latest information. The Bible is a guide for every Christian, it teaches us the right way to live. Adhering to the teaches of the Bible with make us subdue the earth and be happy with God in the after.

The Bible comprises of so many stories of remarkable personalities. These stories are not fictional except in the case of where Jesus christ was teaching in parable. What is a Parable? A parable is an earthly words with heavenly meaning.Jesus mostly teaches in parable to give us a simple illustration about the kingdom of God. These parables include :The prodigal son, the lost sheep, the good Samaritan, the parable of the ten virgins and the parable of the rich man and poor Lazarus.

Every Sunday we all gather together as a congregation to listen to sermon. Most churches hold Sunday school before the main church service. During the Bible study, characters in the Bible are mostly use as topics of discussion. Most of these people in the Bible tell and write their stories and encounter with God and these stories bring about the Holy Bible. The liked of Paul, Isaiah, David, Solomon, John, Job and Peter. Just to mention but few.

I remember when I was younger during our Sunday school days. Our Sunday school teacher always tells us stories about remarkable personality in the Bible. The stories of Elijah, Job, Abraham, Joseph, David, Esther, Ruth and Jacob just to mention but few. Of course the Bible comprises the story or good men and the bad men. Our Sunday school teachers always urge us to emulate the ways of the good men and shun that of bad men.

Of all the stories in the Bible, the one story I find disturbing is the story of Job in the Bible. Job is my favorite man in the Bible, I have read the story of Job uncountable times. Each time I read the book of Job,I do ask myself this question - how can a man love God this much? Question like this makes Job my favorite person in the Bible other than Jesus.

Job is a righteous and innocent man, who becomes a victim of evil perpetrations by the devil himself, under the watch and permission of God. The question here is-why would a loving God let the devil torment a righteous man? Why do innocent and righteous people suffer? Questions like these all boils down to free will. God allow evil in the world because he gave humanity the free will to decise the path to follow.

Whether good or bad,He allow both the weed and the wheat to grow together. Only for the weed to be separated from the wheat on the judgment day. God is so loving and kind that he doesn't want the lost of a soul to hell. And that is why he is patiently waiting for evil perpetrators to turn to a new leaf.

How many of us can emulate Job in the Bible? He loses everything - his children, properties and wealth. Most of us would have be angry and lost faith in God. But God did something remarkable he made a statement that awe me. He said “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.” Job 1:21. Only a man of great faith can still praise God in times of tribulations and trials. Instead of complaining and wailing he is praising God.

If only Christians can see our devotion to God as a form of worship. And not because of some self interest. The world will be a better place. I urge all Christians in the world to see Job as a role model. Let's all imitate and emulate his kind of faith and follow his mode of devotion to God. Especially in this perilous times that we are. Let me go back to my previous question - Who is your Favorite person from the Bible other than Jesus?
