Pope Francis appoints Igbo Bishop into Pontifical Council.

The Auxiliary Bishop of Onitsha Archdiocese in Anambra, Denis Isizoh has been appointed by Pope Frances into the Pontifical Council for interreligious dialogue.

The Pontifical Council for interreligious dialogue is otherwise know initially known as "Secretariat for Non Christians" before it was eventually renamed. It is as special department of the administrative unit of the Catholic Church for relations with people of other religions.

It was create to forster mutual understanding, respect and collaboration between Catholic Church members and believers of other faiths.

News of the appointment was disclosed in a congratulatory message from The Catholic Bishop of Awka diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor who described the appointment of of Bishop Denis as more than qualified, grounded for the familiar terrain.

Describing the appointment as "a square peg in a square hole", Bishop Paulinus expressed his happiness concerning the appointment while calling it a move in the right direction.

The further thanked the Pope for the appointment which he described as a wise decision.

Denis Isizoh was appointed as the Auxiliary Bishop of Onitsha on the 6th of February, 2015.
