4 Spiritual Forces Every Christian Must Deal With

As a Christian, there are many things we need to deal with as we run out Christian race. The race to heaven is a personal one and we need to strong enough to deal with certain spiritual forces that could hinder us. Here are 4 spiritual forces that every Christian must deal with:

1. The Lust of the Flesh.

1 Thessalonians 4:3–5

"For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God."

When the Bible speaks to "the flesh," it is referring to our proclivity to sin during our earthly lives. Our wicked nature, which is ruled by sin and disobedience, is so tightly linked to mankind's physical element that it is referred to as "the flesh." Every human being is the result of a union between a man and a woman, which resulted in the birth of another flesh-bound human. Desires that originate as a result of being fleshly creatures in a fallen world can easily turn into sinful lusts.

2. The Lust of the Eyes

John 2:16

"For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world."

Simply expressed, lust of the eyes is the wicked desire to own what we see or to have things that are appealing to the sight. This need for money, goods, or other physical things comes from the world around us, not from God. These bodily things, John says, do not last; they will perish. The child of God, on the other hand, is assured of eternal life.

3. The Pride of Life

John 2:16

"For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world."

The essence of life's pride is everything that elevates us above our station and gives us the appearance of God-like traits, allowing us to boast in arrogance and worldly wisdom. Eve didn't want to dwell in a perfect environment under God's flawless grace and care for her; she wanted to be like God in her knowledge. During Christ's 40 days in the desert, Satan tried the same three temptations on Him.

4. Spirit of Whoredom

(Hosea 5:4)

"They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God: for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they have not known the LORD."

Idolaters are given this provocative moniker. The Israelites “enquire of a piece of wood,” according to the Bible. In other words, the Israelites sought advice from wooden idols. They have put money into making these idols or asking others to give them guidance through idols. Because they paid to have a relationship with other gods, these idolaters were "unfaithful" to the Lord. God's people must be loyal to Him; chasing after other gods is considered "spiritual adultery."

In conclusion, every Christian need to deal with this spiritual forces because they are inherrent in us. The only way by which we can do so is by praying and fasting and by reading the word of God. God will help us in Jesus name.
