Check out photos from the 18th night of Tarawih prayers in Mecca.

Still in the spirit of Ramadan, Muslim faithfuls in the beautiful city of Makkah gathered in the Masjid Al-Haram to observe the 19th Tarawih prayers of the Holy month.

Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Awwad Al-Juhany led the first part of the prayers while Sheikh Dr. Maher bin Hamad Al-Muayqili led the latter parts.

For your information, Tarawih prayer is one of the specialities of Ramadan nights; for the entire month, Muslims line up at night to observe a number of optional rakats of prayers and listen to and reflect on the recitation of the Quran.

See photos from Mecca below:

Tonight's Tarawih prayers will be led by Sheikh Baleelah and the President General of the Masjid Al-Haram, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Sudais.

The Tarawih prayers are very important for a Muslim. In an hadith of the Prophet, the noble man was quoted as saying, “Whoever observes night prayer in Ramadan as an expression of his faith and to seek reward from Allah, his previous sins will be blotted out.”
