Signs that God is calling you to be a prophet

God’s calling is unassuming and confusing. Sometimes you are not sure if it’s truly the Lord speaking to you or simply your imagination. But if it’s God’s will to be His prophet and you desire to accept this calling, you will feel that it is God who speaks His message and you would like to stretch out this message to His Kingdom.

There are some possible signs of the prophetic call on your life. Some of these signs pertain to any major calling and some are particular to the prophetic ministry.

1- Burning desire to be a Vicar to the Body of Christ

You have the desire to help believers in their daily walk. You have the courage to make people know who is really God, warn them of the certain dangers, and encourage them to walk with God by doing godly deeds.

You believe that God calls you to be His messenger so you want to act something for God’s glory.

Romans 7:18

18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[a] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. (New International Version)

2- Great desire to respond other people’s needs

You have a strong desire to serve other people. You are not interested with making your name for yourself or for your popularity, but you are zealous to give up things that are significant to you for the welfare of other people. Calling to a ministry may require you to spend a lot of sacrifices including your time, criticism from others, and sometimes dangers as you speak the word of God. However, if you hold this strong desire to answer God’s calling, you are inclined to give a total commitment to the Lord and you are willing to abandon your earthly needs.

Matthew 20:27-28

27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Ministry is a servant hood. Anyone who accepts the calling of God to be a prophet must unselfishly gives of himself in any situation in order to meet the needs of his fellowman for the sake of Jesus. New International Version (NIV)

3- You find yourself administering other people

Since you have a great desire to respond the needs of other people, you spend more time telling them about God, His promises, and encouraging them to do godly deeds. At first you may not notice that you are answering a prophetic calling, but later on you will find out and feel that you are already administering God’s people, telling them which way they should go and the purpose of God for them.

This is a sign that God prepares you for ministry, wherein at the start, you are not aware of this calling. However, over the period of time, you will feel that you are happy helping other people in setting their lives in order.

4- You spend a lot of time interceding for others

One of the important keys in a prophetic ministry is offering an intercessory prayer. When we speak of intercessory prayer, it’s praying in behalf of others. You will feel that God is calling you to be a prophet because you find yourself spending a lot of time interceding for others and you have seen significant results of your intercession.

“The prophet is the key to what God does in the earth.” As the Old Testament tells us that God does nothing unless He first reveals His secret to the prophets.

If you find yourself interceding for others, it’s a good sign that your prophetic ministry is already starting to manifest.
