According to the Bible, in the beginning, the earth is covered with water; the Bible also foretells that in the end, the earth will be destroyed by fire. Science and Christianity often clash about certain claims including the beginning and the end of the earth, but I observe a significant similarity in their description of the early life and the imminent fate of the earth.
Our world, also call the Earth, has been the background of Biblical events, as well as general human history regardless of who is studying it, believers and atheists. In Christendom, only the Biblical account of the beginning and the fate of the earth was acceptable, but science has often challenged most Biblical claims presenting hard pieces of evidence to prove. Most Christians are conflicted about who to believe, God's word or Man's.

Some scientists find the Biblical account of the creation of the earth ridiculous and disagree with the prophecies about its end by fire. I watched a Youtube video recently which inspire me to write this piece: it is titled “The Whole History of the Earth and Life”. Although the Bible did not elaborately discuss “dating”, some Churchmen in the past calculated the age of the world based on Biblical Chronology to be at least 7000 years old, adjusted to capture today. But Science calculated the earth to be 4.56 billion years ago. This is why some scientists disapprove of the Biblical account about the origin, purpose, and fare of the earth.
While watching the video, I learned that some million years after the formation of earth water appears. According to the video, water came about due to the formation of the “atmosphere” around the earth – then a cooling got planet. “Water vapor in the atmosphere produced rain, forming ocean”, the video said. Watching the waves of the ocean tossed about by wind reminds me of the imagery I get when reading Genesis, the earth covered with water and the Spirit of God hovering over the face of the deep. According to the video and of course the Bible, water is the first manifest component of our world, after that other things came into being.

Science and Christianity might differ in how the earth came to be populated or how man came into existence – both almost submit that mankind or Homo sapiens is the last of the animals to be created or evolve! The Bible places man's existence to some 7000 years ago, and science citing approximately 10,000 years, the start of human society which birth today's communities and history. Both science and religion are concern with the fate of the earth: the Bible insists the Earth will be ended by a consuming “fire”, and science cites accidental meteorite collision or natural consumption by the growing sun.
The Bible did not state whence the “fire” that consumes the world will come from, a fire-like entity producing intense heat would consume the earth. According to science, the sun we see is a growing star, it is at its teenage age now. At its full maturity, the earth will be a giant red and would have grown to be too close to the earth. Like a ball of burning gases releasing flaming heat, the giant run will consume the earth like fire consumes paper. That is the natural fate of the earth by scientific projections. It may not happen “soon” as Christians preach but it certainly will come to pass, maybe in the next hundreds of millions or billions of years to come.

After watching the video and reading scientific works about the origin of the earth and its fate in the future, it sounded very familiar: both accounts allude to a younger earth covered by water before the appearance of other features; they also agree that one day the earth will be consumed by intense heat, science said heat by giant red sun and the Bible says by fire. A thorough study of the Bible and Scientific discovery will show that science indeed proves a lot about God than it disproves Him.
