A lot of people feel it's best to like someone and then forget about itbecause of how shy they are, or they feel they'll get rejected. Don't forget you only live once, use the opportunity well.
Don't simply assume the person you like is out of your league or not interested, shoot your shot because the person might also be shy and be waiting for you to make a move.
Anytime you feel shy to approach someone, ask yourself "what's the worst that could happen?". You could get a No but at least you tried.
If you don't, you might end up losing the person to someone else and will have to live with the regret of not trying at all. The fact that you tried will bring you a sense of satisfaction.
Another reason you shouldn't hide your feelings is that it will bring you clarity, you'll know if you were confusing kindness for love. You'll know if the feelings are one-sided or if it is mutual.
Now, think of how happy you would feel if the feelings you have turn out to be mutual.
Don't keep your feelings buried inside, tell him or her.
