When a man gets married, lovemaking becomes one of his obligations to his wife. The wife is also obliged to her husband in this regard. The problem is that not all married people handle lovemaking the right way. Some of them face one challenge or the other because they fail to do as the Bible says
There are two important things the Bible tells Couples about this lovemaking of a thing that I want to share with you. The aim of this article is to guide you on how to handle the matter at hand in an appropriate way. We shall be looking at them one after the other.
1. As to who owns your body.
The first issue I want us to address is as to who owns your body. When you are yet to be married, you have total control of your body which means the body is yours. But the moment you are married, it becomes a different ball game.
As a man, your body becomes the property of your wife while as a woman, your body becomes that of your husband. For those who love to starve their partners because they feel the body is theirs, that body is not yours. Let us read from the book of 1 Cor. 7:3-5
3 The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. 4 The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife.
5 Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
2. As to how often lovemaking should be.
Some people are fond of starving their partners which is not right. They handle lovemaking poorly that they can go as long as weeks without offering their partners. If your husband/wife is not in the mood, it is a different case but if not, you need to change.
It is not written anywhere that you shouldn't make love to your partner daily. If your husband or wife needs it daily, give it to him/her. The Bible is in support of it. It should be a regular thing so that cases of infidelity don't set in. We read from 1 Cor. 7:5
Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.
