Quarrels are a normal part of any relationship, and many people try to stay out of them as much as possible. Quarreling, on the other hand, can have negative effects on a relationship if it is not handled properly. After a fight, there are a few things you should do to keep your relationship strong. The following questions will assist you in better managing disagreements:
1. WHAT WAS THE POINT?
Arguments are emotionally demanding; you'll be physically, cognitively, and emotionally depleted, and you'll be desperately unhappy as a result. After a fight, one thing to do is evaluate whether or not the bad emotions were worth it. You'd be astonished to learn that no fight is ever worthwhile. Getting into fights is a terrible way to try to make things better, and it never does.
2. WAS I SELFISH?
One thing I've seen is that in every couple's argument, selfishness is at the bottom of it. Every time couples get into a quarrel, they unwittingly send out a message about themselves. When both partners have different ideas about how things should be, it will lead to a fight. There will surely be a conflict when both parties fail to perceive things as they are from the perspective of the other person. After a fight, think things through objectively to assess how self-centered you were in the process.
3. WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT TIME IF THIS HAPPENS?
There's always a more efficient way to do things. There is always a better way to react, to express yourself, to speak better words, to respond better to your partner and to make a better choice. If you evaluate these factors after a disagreement, you'll see that if things had been handled better, a disagreement may have been avoided and the resulting intense tension may not have occurred.
Don't let a disagreement pass you by without learning from it, as this will help you avoid a similar situation in the future.
You'd be surprised how much you could resolve difficulties between you and your partner without tension if you asked and answered these questions honestly.
