Saying “No” can be problematic especially when it’s directed to a close relative. You will always want to avoid hurting the other person. Hence, accepting an offer nonbeneficial to you.No need to worry again,I will share with you guys few tips I learnt from my Diction teacher, Mrs Jessica Okafor on how to avoid all these stress.
However, you mustn’t say ‘Yes’ all the time. There are times you will be inconvenienced to accept an offer, thus you must learn how to say “No” without hurting a fly.”
I once had a similar case, A friend offered me a product that I know wouldn’t serve a particular purpose for me now. At the same time, I don’t wish to hurt his feelings.
Thus, instead of bluntly saying “No, I don’t need it”, I responded, “This is great, but now isn’t too friendly to make a purchase. Maybe next time”. We both ended the conversation cheerfully.
From the above utterances, which one do you think is more polite?
The second one, right?
Here are other ways you can address yourself when such a case occurs:
💐I appreciate the offer but now isn’t the best time.
💐That would be great but I’m occupied right now. Maybe next time.
💐Perhaps next season when things clear up.
💐I have a few things I need to take care of first. Can I let you know later?
💐I’m really spread thin these days. I just can’t take it right now.
💐I’ve got too much on my plate right now.
💐I’m at the end of my rope right now, so have to take a rain check
💐I really don’t have any openings in my schedule.
💐Unfortunately, it’s not a good time.
💐I would of I could, but I can’t.
💐I’d love to – but I can’t
💐I wish there were two of me, but I can’t
