Connecting with your partner emotionally and physically is one of the best you can strengthen your relationship. Lovemaking is one of the easiest ways to achieve this. Other than keeping each other physically active, letting some steam off in the bedroom can give you major benefits. You both will find yourselves being happier and energetic. Lovemaking can also replenish the mundane and dull life in your relationship and bring back the spark between the two of you.
Despite its advantages, there are some moments that lovemaking is considered to be inappropriate. One of these moments is during women's monthly period. While many societies condemn such practices, in some areas especially the western world, lovemaking during the monthly period is considered a normal thing. Like every other thing, this practice has its pros and cons. Here are three disadvantages of making love with your partner during her monthly period;
1. It can be messy
The biggest downside to making love with your partner during the period is the mess. Blood can get on you and the sheets, especially if your wife has a heavy flow. Aside from dirtying the bed, bleeding may make you feel self-conscious. Anxiety over making a mess can take some or all of the fun out of lovemaking.
2. It increases the risk of infection
Citing some health risks, health experts say it is unsafe to make love when a woman is observing her monthly period. The act could expose partners to the risk of contracting diseases like HIV, gonorrhoea, hepatitis and other sexually transmitted infections.
3. It does not conform to cultural norms and values
In many religions and societies, lovemaking during the monthly period is considered something that is prohibited because menstrual blood is sacred. It is therefore important to note that any intimate act with your partner during that period is a violation of cultural norms and values. It is better to refrain self from lovemaking till after that period.
