5 Rules of Friendship

Wikipedia defines friendship as a relationship of mutual affection between people. It is important to note that true friendship is based on certain characteristics that should be present in every individual. Good friends should know that even if crisis occur in their friendship, such crisis make them wax stronger. It is surprising that many people give up on their friendship because of certain strains that are inevitable. No one is perfect and friends are meant to go through some issues that arise together. Many authors have written on the rules guiding friendship. However, it is important to note that opinions differ. The following points below are the five rules of friendship:

1. Honesty

A honest friend should be able to correct you when you do something wrong and praise you when you do the right thing. In other words, being truthful and expressive without bias is a quality of a good friend. True friends should be honest with each other even if it hurts.

2. Loyalty

A loyal friend remains in support of his friend during difficult situations. Just as honesty is a virtue that a friend should possess, loyalty is equally important. In other words, a loyal friend is a committed friend.

3. Understanding

Real friends understand each other. A good friend will try to understand why you do the things you do. Understanding is a crucial attribute you should have as an individual.

4. Communication

Every good friendship requires effective communication. It is important to keep in touch with a friend and deepen Communication with the person. When talking to a friend, courtesy demands that you give the person your undivided attention. This will give the person a feeling of importance and value.

5. Love

This is a platonic feeling that you have for your friend. You care for the happiness and success of your friend. The person holds a special place in your heart and you will never do anything to sabotage the friendship.
