While working alongside Warren Buffett, they promoted the Giving Pledge as a way in which wealthy business personnels to donate more of their wealth during their lifetimes.

The pair said “we will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this phase of our lives”.

In a separate statement, the foundation said the couple would “remain close trustees” and "that there would be no changes to their roles or the organisation”.
