God's purpose for marriage.

Our God is a God of purpose and everything that he made were all made for specific purposes. There is nothing that is worthless that God wasted his time to create. Your eyes serve a purpose, your ear, nose, hand and every part of the body has a purpose.

God instituted marriage to serve certain purposes in our lives. To understand the purpose of marriage and to succeed in it, one must look deep into God's word for clarity of it's purpose. God's purpose for marriage are:

1. To provide mutual assistance for man: In Genesis 2 vs 18, the Lord said "it is not good that the man should be alone;I will make him an help meet for him". No one accomplishes a great task alone, much result is usually obtained where there is division of labour. Marriage is an avenue for couples to have a suitable and a complementary helper as partner.

2. To ensure holiness in the body of christ: In 2 Corinthians 7 vs 2, God's word says "to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have their own husband". God's purpose for marriage is to also guard one against sexual sin, to ensure holiness and purity.

3. For spiritual sharpening: In proverb 27 vs 17, the Bible says "Iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend". The prayer is agreement works best in marriage than anything else. This type of spiritual sharpening allows for spiritual flourishing and prosperity. The man and his wife are intended by God to be spiritual partners.

4. To aid procreation: In Genesis 1 vs 28, the Bible says "And God blessed them and God said to them, be fruitful, multiply and replenish the earth and subdue it...". God instituted marriage marriage to help man reproduce his kind on earth. God's kind and likeness which are formed in his image is multiplied on earth through the marriage union.

God's mindset is that marriage should also be a solution and a blessing.
