On 22nd of February, 2021 TheCable reported that Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a prominent Islamic cleric has described bandits as militants who are fighting ethnic war.
Ahmad Gumi released this statement while speaking on Channel Television programme on Monday 22nd of February.
Gumi also stated that the bandits are not interested in killing people and that the few they've killed are accidental cases.
Gumi who is known to have access to the Bandits said they only kill people when they are avenging the death of one of them, adding that the Bandits are mostly interested in ransoms from Kidnapping and also open to negotiation.
Hours After Sheikh Ahmad Gumi released this statement, a Northern Senator, Shehu Sani reacted, saying that Bandits have no grievance other than rabid crave for criminality and violence.
Reacting to Gumi's statement, Shehu Sani also said Even if the bandits have grievances, killing and Kidnapping innocent poor people is not the path to addressing it.
"Let this be clear", he said.
Senator Sani released this statement via his official twitter account, see the screenshot below:
