Barely 7 days after bandits abducted students and travellers in Niger state, another abduction is reported to have taken place in Katsina state, where it is said that 17 nursing mothers, who were reportedly to be on their way to a wedding ceremony, in Uguwar Rimi village in Faskari local government area of Katsina State have been kidnapped.
Also recall, that popular Islamic cleric Dr Sheikh Ahmed Gumi played the role of the mediator between the bandits that orchestrated the kidnap in Niger state. It was reported, that he negotiated with the said ring leader of the group Dogo Gide on behalf of the Niger State government. It was also reported by the people's gazette that it cost a whooping sum of N800 million naira to secure the release of the victims.
Many Nigerians are starting to think that banditry may have turned into a lucrative business in Nigeria, considering the amount of money that is spent on the release of the victims and also the rapid increase in the number of kidnaps that's going on round the country everyday.
