Lagos Police Command arraigns five suspects for obstructing arrest of drug dealer

Following the arraignment of five suspects by the Lagos State Police Command for preventing policemen attached to the Iba Police Station from arresting a suspected drug dealer and possessing hard drugs suspected to be Indian hemp, reactions have started to trail the incident.

Many Nigerians have taken to social media to express their displeasure over the increasing rate of drug abuse and the audacity of the suspects to obstruct police officers from carrying out their lawful duties.

Some have also criticized the bail conditions granted to the suspects, stating that they are too lenient and may not serve as a deterrent to others.

In response, the Lagos State Police Command has assured Nigerians that it will continue to work tirelessly to rid the state of drug dealers and users. The command also urged members of the public to support its efforts by providing timely and credible information on the activities of drug dealers in their areas.

It will be recalled that the Lagos State Government recently launched a drug-free campaign aimed at sensitizing residents on the dangers of drug abuse and the need to embrace a drug-free lifestyle.

The campaign, which is part of the government's efforts to curb drug abuse in the state, has received widespread support from various stakeholders, including religious organizations, non-governmental organizations, and the media.

As the trial of the suspects continues, many Nigerians are hopeful that justice will be served and that the incident will serve as a wake-up call to others who engage in drug-related activities.
