Governor Zulum's Convoy Kill Two People.
A road accident involving a vehicle on the convoy of Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has reportedly led to the deaths of two people.
The Cable reported that the incident occurred on Tuesday, February 9, when the governor was heading to Maiduguri after a visit from Mafa local government area (LGA).
One of the vehicles was said to have had a road mishap and crashed along Mafa- Maiduguri road.
According to a police source who confirmed the incident, the vehicle somersaulted after a tyre deflated.
A former governor Borno governor, Kashim Shettima, was said to be among other top officials who were travelling in the convoy.
Gunmen strikes Again.
Gunmen have again struck in the early hours of Tuesday in Jalingo, Taraba state capital and abducted one Bala Baba.
The incident happened at the residence of the victim in Sabongari, a suburb of the state capital.
This came less than 48 hours after the state NLC chairman, Peter Jediel was kidnapped and subsequently released.
Elder brother of the victim, Saidu Baba confirmed the incident to vanguard via telephone.
According to him, he said he received a call from jalingo around 3 am that his brother, Bala Baba was kidnapped.
At the time he spoke to Vanguard, the family source said the kidnappers were yet to contact the family.
The state police command has also confirmed the incident.
The acting Police public relations officer, Leha Reform said the incident happened around 2.30 am.
He said efforts are on to rescue to abducted person.
Another Famous Politician Dies.
The representative of the Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency of Abia State in the House of Representatives, Sam Onuigbo, has expressed sadness over the passing of Ossy Prestige.
DAILY POST reports that Ossy Prestige, who represented Aba North/South Federal Constituency and was elected under the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) platform, died after battling an undisclosed illness.
Reps spokesperson, Benjamin Kalu, confirmed the death on Monday.
“He has been confirmed dead by a family member,” Kalu said.
But, mourning the late Abia federal lawmaker, Hon Sam Onuigbo in a condolence message made available to newsmen on Tuesday, said the world has lost a vibrant, people-centred and progressives man, adding that the late parliamentarian touched many lives that came across him.
In the same vein, the House of Representatives, on Tuesday, postponed all legislative agenda to mourn Ossy Prestige who passed away on Monday at a hospital in Germany.
Announcing his death on the floor of the House, the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila described the late lawmaker as a fighter that will be missed in the House.
He announced that the House will not read the letter from the President on the nominated service chiefs.
Fulani Herdsmen Arrested In Ondo.
The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, has arrested two Fulani herdsmen with their cows for destroying crops on some farms along Irese/Ijare Road, Ifedore Local Government Area of the state.
The state Commander of Amotekun Corps, Adeleye Olatunji, confirmed the development to SaharaReporters and warned herdsmen to stop destroying farms in the state.
Olatunji said the herders were apprehended with their cows following a complaint lodged by youths in the area over the destruction of their farmland.
Last month, Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of the state, issued a seven-day quit notice to the herdsmen operating illegally in the state’s forest reserves.
Apart from ejecting the herdsmen, the governor also banned underage grazing, night grazing, and movement of cattle within the cities and on highways.
