On Wednesday, 18th of November 2020, Lagos State High Court in Ikeja convicted a popular Lagos-based cleric, Prophet Israel Ogundipe, of fraud charges.
Ogundipe who is the pastor in charge of Celestial Church of Christ Global Genesis Parish was taken to court on the issue of fraud. It was allegedly reported that Pastor Ogundipe requested for a sum of N17m from a London based architect on the ground of procuring some landed property for her. However as the case may be, the agreement was not followed as planned so Mrs Olaide Williams-Oni charged him to court.

Although the prophet was prosecuted on seven counts, he was found guilty in two by the judge who finished five charges for lack of evidence. Ogundipe was now sentenced to a year's imprisonment on each count with which the prison terms would run concurrently.
However, Mrs Olaide Williams-Oni on her testimony in the court said she met the cleric during her visit to Nigeria in the year 2002 when she went to church for prayers with her step sister.
Ogundipe was arraigned in 2007.
