Road Accident

I Nearly Died In Accident But I Survived

I was involved in an accident that would have cut short my life on earth. Well, my life wasn't cut short to God's glory but this is the way many people who left this earth.

I closed at work and had to rush to Church for an assignment. It was also our midweek service. When I was done in Church, I entered Keke from Church. As we approached Nnebisi Road, one of the transformers was on electric induced fire. I have seen electric fires but I haven't seen such before. We could feel the vibration. All of this was happening in a few seconds.

The drivers were confused, there was only one option, to go forward! Turning on that road wasn't possible and even if it was possible, there were other cars following behind and rushing to pass the scene. Everyone was also afraid that a broken wire would fling unto one of the vehicles and we know what the story would be like. So, I'd say that the first thing God saved me from was electrocution. Our Keke was just at the very spot of the problem.

While the Keke driver had only milliseconds to make a decision, the only thing that came to his mind was to speed ahead and swerve by the left at the same time to stay as farther as possible from the electric poles. At the same time, another driver (I can't tell if it was Keke or Car) also had the same impulse. What happened? While our driver was swerving to the left, the other driver was doing the same and they were both at the same pace.

The car hit our Keke with a force and the pressure pushed me out of the keke to the centre of the other road. I landed with my right knee which scratched through the ground. That was not my challenge...

I was in the middle of the road, everything was happening so fast and my eyes went blank. I knew I was in the middle of a very busy road. If there was any car speeding up, I would be crushed and if it happened, only a miracle would have kept me alive. I still think about it and when I do, I cringe!

My properties were scattered across the road.

I can't tell if it took longer to get myself but when I did, people had surrounded everywhere across the road, the very busy road suddenly had no car in sight, it was very surprising because Nnebisi road is a busy road. I got up with much struggle and picked the things around me, limping to the safe side of the road. My eyes weren't seeing very properly. I still had other things scattered there including my wifi dongle and Church report. Someone helped me to pick them as this time cars had started passing.

It was then that I noticed that the other person who was in the Keke with me sustained a more serious injury because he was sitting close to the impact area where the other vehicle hit ours.

My trouser, very stronger than average jeans was badly torn. I am just getting to realize the level of injury I would have had if I was wearing a lighter trouser or shorts.

At first, the level of injury I had wasn't dawn on me, the pain was increasing gradually as I tried sitting down on one of the empty shops which the owner has probably closed for the day. I could hardly walk anymore. There was a pharmacy shop nearby, they had to give me a pain-relieving drug to help ease the pain as I manage to find my way home.

With much struggle, I got home paying for double seats on the bus to help me keep my leg the way I could be comfortable. Well, the rest is that... Above all, I am better. I am currently receiving treatment for the swollen knee and the bruises.

I am grateful that I could still have the strength to type this, I am grateful that it was so bad to get hospitalized. Someone somewhere may have experienced the same but have a very worst experience.

Glory to God.
