"He's Is With God And His Wife" ~ Okonjo-Iweala Reacts To Death Of Dr Chike Akunyili

The 7th Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Dr Okonjo-Iweala has reacted to the killing of the husband of, Professor Akinyuli.

Her reaction was contained in a post she made on her verified official twitter handle on Wednesday 29th of September 2021.

She said it was with deep sadness that she received the news of the brutal killing of Dr Chike Akunyili. She described the late Akinyuli as eminent physician and beloved husband of Prof Dora Akunyili. She expressed her heartfelt condolences to his children and family. She gave the assurance that he is with God and his wife.

"It is with deep sadness that we hear of the brutal killing of Dr Chike Akunyili; eminent physician, beloved husband of Prof Dora Akunyili-Nigerian icon. Heartfelt condolences to his children & family. He is with God & his wife. May his soul rest in peace." she said.

Professor Akinyuli died after it was reported that unknown gunmen had opened fire on the car he was driving in, when he was returning home to Enugu, after receiving a posthumous award by the University of Nigeria Alumni Association on behalf of his late wife at the All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha. His driver and police orderly were also caught up in the shooting.

His wife, Professor Dora Akunyili died at a Specialist Cancer Hospital in India on 7 June 2014 after a two-year battle with uterine cancer.
