Two dead as gas explosion hits Obasanjo Library in Abeokuta

Barely 48 hours after two persons were killed at Former Governor Gbenga Daniel's Conference Hotel in Abeokuta, another gas explosion has rocked the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), in the Ogun State Capital.

Two persons were feared to have died in the raging gas explosion which occurred on Thursday morning.

Daily Trust reports that the Obasanjo Presidential Library is almost opposite Daniel's hotel.

The explosion, it was gathered occured around 11am at the Marcque event centre.

Our correspondent reports that the OOPL houses event centres, recreation centres, hotel, church, mosque and others.

It was learnt that technicians were filling gas into an Air Conditioner, when it suddenly went up in flames.

"Two people have already been confirmed dead," a worker at OOPL said.

Four gas explosions have occurred in Abeokuta in the past one week, leading to the death of about eight persons.

The Ogun State Government is yet to react to the ugly trend.
