It was the end of the road for a young man said to be an armed robber as a double-barrelled gun was found on him inside a motorcycle he rode along with two other gang members , the Delta State Police Command announced on Friday, September 17.
The armed robber, whose name was given as Solomon Oghenenyerhovwo, was not so lucky as he was arrested when the patrol team from the Isiokolo Division, while on stop-and-search along Okpara-Okurekpo Road, flagged down the said motorcycle .
It was gathered that after the policemen flagged the motorcycle down, a search was conducted on them and during the search, a locally-made double-barrelled gun was found on Oghenenyerhovwo. Following the discovery, the two other gang members abandoned him and jumped into the nearby bush.
According to a statement by the state police command through its acting Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, on the Facebook wall of the command, he was promptly arrested and during interrogation at the police station, he was said to have admitted being a member of the armed robbery gang.
The statement added that he was currently giving useful information to the police about the activities of the gang while a manhunt had been launched for the fleeing members of the gang.
