Insecurity in South Eastern Nigeria has called for sober reflection. The weekly statistics of crime rate perpetrated by Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and unknown gunmen in the region called for urgent attention.
No doubt, the region is still mourning the murder of husband of late Prof. Dora Akunyili, Dr. Chike Akunyili who was killed by unknown gunmen few days ago in Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State.

As part of the effort to jointly defeat Bandits that have become a clog in the wheel of progress, Youth in Ogun State, South West Nigeria joined Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) to expose criminals in their hideouts in Shagamu, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday.
This is a commendable act that is worthy of emulation by youths that want progress for their region. The Youths and OPC arrested the all bandits at their camp located at Lufape village.
All other agitators across ethnic line can toe the path of Shagamu youths for Nigeria to defeat the monster called bandits.
If agitators like IPOB emulate the Shagamu Youths and OPC, the following are likely benefits for South East region:
1. Expose Criminal Hideouts: if all IPOB members which consist large number of youths, the bandits hideout and other criminals tormenting the lives of people in the region will be expose. This will no doubt restore confidence in people to go about their lawful business without fear of harassment and intimidation.
2.Reduce Bandits Attack: all forms of attack associated with bandits will drastically reduce if the IPOB can team up and work for safety of their region. The rate at which gunmen and other criminals strike will reduce to barest minimum.
3. Boost the Economy: threat to lives and properties has affected economic centres of South East region. If all youths in the region can work with security agencies, it will restore confidence in entrepreneurs and business owners in the area.
