3 Things Police PRO Says People Should Do When They Get Abducted By Kidnappers

During the recent parade of suspects at the Federal Capital Territory, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Frank Mba, advised people concerning what to do if they get abducted. Although the Police PRO assured Nigerians at the parade that thousands of Police officers will be making efforts to rescue them if they ever get kidnapped, he found it vital to advise people on some safety tips to help them stay alive until help comes.

This article discusses some vital points raised by Frank Mba for the benefit of every Nigerian.

During the recent parade of suspects by the police in Abuja, a 21-year-old suspect, Babangida Usman, narrated how he and his gang members killed their victim, Chinedu, after Chinedu attempted to struggle with their leader. The incident prompted the Police Spokesperson to advise the public.

The first few minutes of every kidnap operation is the most dangerous time. Frank Mba pointed out that the kidnappers are in a state of flight or freight, and they are also panicking like their victims. People should be more careful during the first few minutes of kidnap, as their abductors could pull the trigger if provoked. The first few minutes of kidnap are dangerous and decisive.

A kidnap victim should exercise a lot of caution when a kidnap operation is not taking place in a public area, where an alarm from the victim could cause the kidnappers to flee and abandon their mission. There have been cases of kidnappers who deserted their mission in a public place after their victims cried for help. However, many people were not so lucky after calling for help or struggling with their kidnappers in isolated areas. Struggling will kidnappers is not advisable, but struggling with them in private places is even more dangerous.

Weigh your options properly before trying to escape. If the conditions are not right for the victim to attempt an escape, the victim should exercise patience and take time before taking the risk of trying to escape. The actions of the kidnap victim can either complicate or assist the efforts of security officers. Such actions can impact the victim's safety and their chances of coming out alive.
