In 10 Years, 100 Million Nigerians Will Be Lifted Out Of Poverty Says Vice President Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Friday reassured Nigerians of President Buhari's commitment towards lifting 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in 10 years.

Prof. Osinbajo stated this in Abuja at the inaugural meeting of the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy Steering Committee which took place at the Presidential Villa.

According to the Vice President, a new approach that will be based on a common- sense strategy that will deliver the results promised by President Muhammadu Buhari will be taken.

He emphasized that stakeholders and government must be very intentional about the objectives and ways of achieving them.

The Vice President said that in order to actualize the objective of eradicating poverty, the government would adopt a different and more effective approach.

He promised that efforts will be made to focus attention on creating more opportunities for Nigerians to earn decent livelihoods.

The meeting was attended by the Nigeria Governors Forum Chairman, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Nasarawa Governor, Abdullahi Sule, Borno Governor, Babagana Zulum, Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government, Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebayo, Minister of Agriculture, Muhammad Nanono. Minister of State for Budget and National Planning also joined virtually.
