The prison break that led to the escape of many inmates happened on the 5th of April, 2021. It was reported that the maximum prison located at Owerri, Imo State, was attacked by unknown gunmen. The gunmen released all the prisoners before setting the facility ablaze.
From the day of the incident till now, several lists of names and pictures of the prisoners have been released by the police to help identify these prisoners If recognized. The attack which occurred on Monday, 5th April 2021 was perpetrated by unknown gunmen. Therefore, the essence of release these names and pictures is for identification and immediate report in case you come across any of them.
Let's help the police flush out the criminal elements in society. It may not affect us today but surely we will feel it in the nearest future. Raise alarm if you notice or observe any of those listed photos. After the raid in the early hours of Monday, 5th of April, about 1800 detainees were released by the gunmen. So far, about 84 inmates have willingly returned to the correctional facility.
