Herdmen Return to Igangan, Kill Amotekun Commander

Just about a month ago, the dreaded herdsmen killed scores of residents of Igangan, a town in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo state destroying many properties.

Report from the Vanguard claims that the herdmen who came in numbers dressed in Customs uniforms started shooting for about 30 minutes but were said to have been initially repelled by the local hunters.

According to the report, the herdmen came at about 8pm on Friday night shooting sporadically in Igangan killing the Amotekun commander in the local government. The source could not confirm the number of people killed.

Reports also have it that there was confusion among the residents as they thougt the men in uniform were Customs' officers but turned out to be killer herdmen. The assailants were said to have passed through Igboora shooting and killed some people. Ibarapa North has been the haven of the dreaded herdsmen, this led the self-style Yoruba activist Sunday Igboho to give quit notice to all the Fulani herdmen to vacate Yoruba land. This has also given rise to protests across the southwestern states for self determination.
