Goodluck Opiah, the Minister of State for Education, spoke on behalf of the federal government and argued that the relief supplies were intended to help those who had been affected by the 2022 flood.

''It is with great pleasure and honour that I invite you to this occasion as we flag off the distribution of presidential palliative to our people who were afflicted by the 2022 flood,'' he said. The flood was forecast by the appropriate federal and state agencies, but its severity nevertheless took everyone by surprise. The Niger Delta ecology and the lives of its inhabitants were completely wiped out by the worst flood in recorded history. The flood destroyed homes, farms, and businesses. Unfortunately, Niger Delta's geography and geographical location make it the region most vulnerable to flooding in the country.

He continued, "As a result of this ugly situation, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved that relief materials be distributed to the flood victims in the states of the Niger Delta in an effort to lessen the difficulties brought on by the floods.

This aid comes on top of what has already been provided to the impacted countries. We owe a great debt of gratitude to the President for deciding to help our people out of their dire situation. Despite the government's best efforts, we know that the flood relief supplies will not be enough to cover the losses that have been incurred.

We are well aware that the government's relief supplies will not be enough to make up for the losses caused by the flood. But we truly believe that the aid packages would help ease the hardships our people are experiencing right now.
