Two kidnappers were shot dead while others were said to have escaped with gunshot injuries during a gun duel with policemen and vigilante group while attempting to abduct a young man in a community in Bauchi State, the state police command announced on Sunday.
It was gathered that the kidnappers invaded the home of a man around 1:00 a.m. in Rafin Cora Village, Ningi Local Government Area of the state, and attempted to abduct the 28-year-old son of a man, said to be popular in the area.
According to reports, during the attempt, the son of the man resisted being abducted and he was said to have been shot by the kidnappers while trying to escape.

However, following a distress call received by the police operatives of the Ningi Division, the policemen and the local vigilante group in the area were said to have raced to the scene where, on sighting them, the kidnappers reportedly opened fire.
However, during the exchange of gunshots at the scene, two of the kidnappers were shot dead while others were said to have escaped with gunshot injuries.
The photographs of the bodies of the two kidnappers, which were posted by the state police command on its Facebook wall, are too gory to be posted in this article.
According to a statement by the state police command through its Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Muhammad Wakil and posted on the Facebook wall of the command on Sunday, after the gun duel, the man that was shot was rescued and immediately taken to a hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.
Also at the scene of the incident, one AK-47 rifle said to belong to one of the kidnappers was recovered while efforts are on to arrest the fleeing kidnappers.
