The new Abeokuta Train Station which was named after Professor Wole Shoyinka ,the 1986 winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in literature, is now set to resume full operation as the 156km Lagos Ibadan Standard Gauge Rail Line is set for formal Commissioning by Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari after the completion of all Major Construction works on the standard gauge line.
The Train Station which is located at Ori Osoko Community in the outskirts of Abeokuta the Ogun State Capital is a state of the art masterpiece which is one of the 10 train staions on the strech of the Lagos Ibadan train modernization project.
Equiped with facilities that is second to none in modern day rail transportation which includes Lugage detectors , human scanners and two 15 passengers Panaromic elevators within the main floor of the station.
Other facilities to be enjoyed by passengers within the station includes two platforms containing other two elevators a pedestrian bridge, other facilities in the station.
It is hoped that the formal commissioning of the standard gauge rail line will reduce the traffic and the numbers of hours been wasted on the Lagos Ibadan express way while hoping that many more people will patronize the new rail services.
