Tension In Saki As Suspected Herdsmen Tie Farmer To Tree, Kill Him With Machete

Suspected Fulani herders attacked a village in Saki, Oyo State's Saki West Local Government Area, where a young man was allegedly hacked to death. The Punch reported.

According to reports, the farmer, simply known as Kola, was tied to a tree in the village of Oke Orogun and attacked with a cutlass.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, according to sources. While some residents believed the farmer had died, one told our correspondent that Kola was still alive as of Monday, though his condition was serious.

The news of the attack upset some Saki youths, who invaded a Fulani settlement and set fire to some of the huts.

Residents of the GAA are said to have fled when they saw the angered youths approaching their huts.

The killing of the Yoruba man and the assault on the GAA, according to one source who spoke with our correspondent in Ibadan on Monday, has caused panic among the town's residents.
