Lately, Sheikh Gumi has become more popular, and his name often make headlines of different news outlets. Sheikh Ahmad Gumi is a known Islamic scholar in Northern Nigeria whose popularity increased all over Nigeria after he first met with some bandits at Zamfara state in order to negotiate peace.
Sheikh Ahmad Gumi is also responsible for the release of some kidnapped victims by armed bandits. However, Gumi who often speaks in the favour of these armed bandits asked in his statements hours ago that "if coup plotters are pardoned why not bandits?", and his statements earned him lots of reactions from Nigerians on social media.
David Oluwafemi Adewumi Abdulateef Fani Kayode, popularly known as Femi Fani Kayode or FFK has also taken to his Twitter page to blast Sheikh Gumi regarding his statements about pardoning bandits.
FFK stated in his tweets "I am convinced that Gumi is no longer himself. Something has gone wrong with him. He is shrouded in darkness & deceit"
