'100 Achievers Team' Felicitate with the Obi of Onitsha On His Birthday

The 100 Achievers team has felicitated with the Obi of Onitsha on his 80th birthday, and praised him for the honorable way he has conducted his affairs as a First Class traditional ruler and the occupier of the revered stool of Ezechima. The group equally commended him for the visionary leadership he has provided Onitsha community, ensuring cordiality between Onitsha indigenes and settlers in a very convivial environment. They also commended the massive development he has attracted to the ancient kingdom, his contributions to nation building, particularly where it has to do with the traditional institution and his roles as a bridge builder managing diversity in the ancient Onitsha Kingdom.

In a release by Barr. Lizzy Anyaonu, the group extolled the virtues of the royal father who has made humility and integrity his everyday garment and praised the way he has carried himself in a manner that is befitting of his status. The group added that despite his high achievements, he has remained unassuming and accessible to his people. The group commended how he has transformed his yearly Ofalla festival to a world class cultural event, showcasing the beauty of Onitsha tradition and Onitsha city to a global audience, and attracting tourists who come to savor the best of Igbo royal activities.

They added that Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe has brought poise to the traditional institution and has become a respected ambassador of igbo culture who every traditional ruler within and outside Nigeria is working very hard to emulate.

Speaking further, the group stated that they would prevail on the governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano (Akpokuedike ) to rename Awka road, OBI ACHEBE WAY and some other institutions to honor the traditional ruler who has played stabilizing roles in Nigeria and Igbo land and has become a rallying force since his ascension to the throne of his forbears.

They charged ndi Igbo to treasure their very best and show appreciation to personalities who have used their position to advance the Igbo cause.

Concluding, the group pleaded with the Obi of Onitsha not to rest on his oars in the service to humanity through the platform of the traditional institution, urging him to champion the cause of ndi Igbo as it relates to marginalization in the larger Nigerian polity and galvanize men of honor like him towards integrating ndi Igbo into the scheme of things and dousing the tension and the drum of war in the country.

The group prayed God to continue to make the Obi stronger for a more peaceful, purposeful and long reign.
