According to information made available to the public, the serial pickpocket was caught red-handed in Alausa pedestrian bridge, Olowopopo Way, Ikeja Lagos. After being caught, he explained how he carries out his criminal activity. He noted that when people are walking past the bridge, he tampers their bags or wallets and unsuspectingly remove their phones or money from them.

On the day he was eventually caught, he didn't know he was being watched by a decoy team fficers of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS). These officers were putting on plain clothes and also walking on the bridge like "normal" pedestrians.

The implication of stealing according to the country's constitution is that the person will be charged to court and imprisoned if found guilty. On the orders of the State Commissioner, after the suspect was caught, he was charged to mobile court and eventually sentenced to four (4) months imprisonment. As we speak, Jamiu Isiaka is still in custody of the agents of law in Lagos State.

The arrest of this young man has shown obviously that pedestrians across Nigeria should really be watchful of people around them when on the bridge. This is apparently because pickpockets are always on a lookout for those who they'd pilfer things from without being suspected.

Dear esteemed Readers, what are your thoughts concerning what you just read about the arrest of the pickpocket in Lagos?
