Erhabor started trending on Nigerian social media, after a video of him was seen being assaulted by a civilian.
The civilian culprit was escaping from a police, team who were chasing him over traffic offense.
Officer Sunday Erhabor was holding his AK riffle, but he did not cock or use it against the culprit.
The police officer told BBC pidgin that the moment he remembered the force order 237 which, is about when to use firearms but the situation have not gotten to that level when he can use his gun but he tried to resist the temptations.
Officer Sunday advised his follow officers to resist, on over reacting when the situation gets tough.
Meanwhile police have arrested a 33 years old man, for reckless driving and assaulting a police officer.
The car used by the suspect during the incident have been impound and sent, to Lagos State task force office to be treated according to the law
