A 22 year old Woman, Maryam Sadiq and her 50 year old husband, Abubakar Sadiq, has been arrested after they had celebrated the birth of a baby boy, by the Kano state police command for allegedly stealing a new born baby Boy from Abdullahi Ease teaching Hospital in Kano state.
According to the report gathered, the Police Public relations officer of the state, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, he said a Complaint was made by the father of the baby, Rabi'u Mohammed to the police Command.
He said the father stated that one of his twins , who was born on the 7th of September, 2021, has gone missing in the hospital and according to him, the sister in-law, who was with the baby had slept off in but on waking up, couldn't find one of the twins.
The PPRO added that immediately they got the news, the police swung into action by sealing the hospital and searching everywhere within the hospital premises.
He further said that they were able to arrest Maryam and her husband with the help of special intelligence and he further added that the Suspects confessed to the crime. In his words, he said “Sustained efforts, coupled with intelligence sharing, led to the arrest of one Maryam Sadiq, 22 years old, and her husband one Abubakar Sadiq, 50 years old, all of Rijiyar Zaki Quarters, Kano and the Child was recovered from them in their home.”
He added that Maryam confessed that it was the fire need of her husband for a male child that caused her to the commit the crime.
DSP Abdullahi Haruna concluded that the bay has been handed over to the real parents and the Suspects will be charged to Court after all necessary investigation has been carried out.
