It was sad news when I read about how some suspected Fulani herdsmen ambushed security men who were on routine patrol in Kwara state.
According to Daily post, some unidentified armed men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, on Monday, ambushed a local vigilante group on routine patrol in Oko-Obbo-Ile, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
It was also reported that the attack occurred at about 2:30 p.m in the community leaving a member of the vigilante team identified as Mashud Taye seriously injured from machete cuts by the herdsmen.
After the attack, the vigilante men were able to arrest one of the suspects while the remaining of them ran away into the bush.
It is wrong for the suspected herdsmen to use a machete to injure one of the vigilante team and justice must be done for the wicked act.

However, two things should be done to prevent an incident like this again
1. Security agencies should ensure they apprehend the suspected herdsmen responsible for attacking the local vigilantes and make sure they face the wrath of the law to prevent others from doing it.
The security agencies should also inform the Fulani community about the recent incident for their leaders in the community to enlighten their followers to avoid violent acts that may bring instability in the state.

2. Traditional rulers in the Fulani community can also play a role in ensuring they live peacefully by informing their people to abide by all rules and regulations of the state, especially if there is anti-grazing law in the local government.
Residents living in Kwara state can cooperate with Nigeria's police force and other security operatives as part of efforts to address insecurity in the state.
They should report any suspicious movement within their environment to the nearest police station or call emergency number 112 or command control room number.
Dear readers, what are your opinion concerning suspected herdsmen that ambushed a local vigilante group in Kwara State ?
