In an interview with Channels TV, Okonkwo said before Peter Obi took over as Governor of Anambra there was insecurity in the state. About 5:00 minutes into a video shared on YouTube, Kenneth Okonkwo said: "When Peter Obi was Governor of Anambra State, he turned the worst security situation (sic), a state where a governor is kidnapped and taken to a place and his resignation announced against his consent, that is Anambra State, he took that state and transformed it to be the best in millennium development goals by UNDP".
